Being able to buy a pair of glasses when you need them is something so many of us take for granted. Yet for the nine out of ten blind people who live in developing countries, it’s too late to take preventative action.

Amazingly, 80% of all vision impairment is avoidable and treatable. A great deal of this is caused by uncorrected refractive errors- in short, the need to wear glasses. Imagine if everyone who needed glasses could get a pair. Imagine if something as easy as buying your next pair of glasses could help us to achieve that?

Well it can.

The next time you need to buy a new pair of glasses, think of us and our appeal to raise $25,000 to buy 10,000 pairs of reading glasses for people in need.

Could you afford to match the cost of your specs and donate it to us?

Vision should not be a lottery.

Why glasses are so crucial?

Not having a pair of glasses when you need them impacts more deeply than you’d think. It goes well beyond simply suffering with poor eyesight.

In fact, we know that people who don’t get glasses when they need them are more likely to:

  • Be hospitalised with trips and falls
  • Suffer loss of independence and loss of social networks through fear of going out
  • Experience depression and anxiety
  • End up being dependant on nursing care and social services

Worse still, where vision issues are unresolved with children, it’s known to cause cognitive delay and problems with speech development. Something we are not prepared to accept.

We are raising $25,000 to buy 10,000 pairs of glasses so that people don’t have to suffer.

Everyone deserves the gift of vision.
